Job description
Are you ready to create the 6G future?
The advent of 6G networks is at the heart of the laboratory's development areas. It comes with the absolute need of defining sustainable and optimized solutions regarding energy and resource utilization. In particular, it is expected to require the definition of advanced protocols to enable energy-efficient, and yet meeting users QoE expectations, use of communication and computational resource.
We are looking for a senior research engineer in advanced protocols and optimisation for future networks.
- The research areas of this position include:
- Specification and optimisation of low layers of wireless protocols for future wireless networks, focusing on layer 2 and layer 3.
- Development of algorithms for radio resource management in heterogeneous and dense wireless networks, using optimization tools like stochastic or machine learning techniques
- Contribution to implementation of the aforementioned algorithms and protocols on prototypes, by means of specifications or, better, of direct hands-on development.
- Contribution to project proposal writing for both public funded or industrial projects
- Supervision of non-permanent researchers like fixed term workers or Ph.D. students
- Inventive results protection through patents
- Scientific dissemination through articles in international journals and conferences.
In addition to these missions, the position also include a role of scientific animation of the research domain of protocol and heterogeneous resource orchestration within the laboratory. This covers the development of the scientific roadmap of these technical areas in the laboratory and identify the related funding actions to implement it.
What you can expect:
- In the heart of the Alps, an exceptional and internationally recognised scientific ecosystem, in a city committed to the environmental transition "Grenoble European Green Capital 2022".
- Job location close to the downtown city.
- A balance between private and professional life (50 days off/year), teleworking, an active Works Council for leisure and extra-professional activities.
- Salary according to your qualifications and experience
- Industrial-grade facilities for research
- Participation to scientific conferences
- Training to strengthen your skills or acquire new ones
Applicant Profile
Requirements, qualifications and skills:
- Ph.D. on protocols or radio resource management in wireless networks
- Senior researcher in the field of low layers protocols and radio resource management in wireless networks
- Expertise on layer 2 and layer 3 protocols for wireless systems
- Excellent knowledge on system level simulations for wireless networks
- Good experience in project proposal writing in the area of wireless networks
- Several publications in leading conferences and journals
- Invention or co-invention of several patents
- Knowledge on artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques applied to wireless resource management would be a plus
- Experience in specification and development of communication protocols on prototyping platform would be a plus
Soft skills: ability to analyse and synthesise, inventiveness, rigour, efficiency, ability to mobilise, autonomy, cooperation and team spirit, supervisory skills.
