Description de l'offre
The Jules Horowitz Reactor (JHR), under construction in Cadarache (South of France), is an experimental material testing reactor MTR, dedicated to the studies of the fuels and materials utilized in nuclear power plants (NPP). Its aim is to undertake experimental irradiations in well-controlled environments in order to support the safety cases for the use of such materials and/or fuel in NPP. As part of an international collaboration with UKEAE-CCFE (Oxford, UK), the team is in charge of the development of irradiation devices dedicated to investigations of materials more suited to the "fusion community", FUSERO. We wrote a development roadmap for the next three years in the both institutions. The engineering apprentice will join the team.
Thus, the apprentice schedule would follow these main principles, as often as possible in interaction with our English colleagues:
• The apprentice period could start on September 2023 for 3 years,
• The student will have to pursue the development/qualification of specific mechanical benches at LMA (CNRS-ECM, Marseille).
• The student will perform many mechanical tests on those benches and will develop for such propose a behavior modelling,
• Along this alternance, the apprentice will get “JHR culture” in order to perform integration, design and calculations of irradiation devices (thermal, mechanical aspects)
Note that it is envisaged a short period at CCFE; it would be adjusted regarding the roadmap.
Example of tasks :
- 1st year: The apprentice will have to learn the operation (and constraints) of experimental irradiation in an MTR. They must learn how to use numerical tools (CAD, FEM) required to design and verify to the device’s design. Several bibliographical reports will be written. Many experiments have to be led at LMA (Marseille), The apprentice will be integrated into a CEA laboratory and will attend the periodical meetings between the CCFE (UK) and CEA (France) teams. His set tasks will be defined jointly between CCFE and CEA.
- 2nd and 3rd year: the apprentice will become more and more autonomous and will initiate proposals. They shall design an irradiation device to support the needs of the fusion community. The ultimate objective will be to reach the preliminary design phase.
